Two Important Ingredients To Answered Prayer

(Mk 11:24-26) “Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.  And when ye stand praying, forgive if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father which is in heaven forgive your trespasses. How important is Faith and Forgiveness to answered prayer in the above verses? 1) Prayer without faith is useless. Preceding the above verses Jesus used a cursed and dried up fig tree to teach on what a prayer life is like without faith, adding also that prayer with faith however brings “whatsoever you desire.” Faith therefore is necessary to “receive” from God.2) Prayer without forgiveness is dead. The prayers of an unforgiving Christian cannot be honored by God. Why? Because God commands that those who seek forgiveness must not harbor unforgiveness in their hearts. Being offended is just a part of life, therefore how we handle those that offend us determines not just our fellowship with God but answered prayers. (Eph. 4:32) “And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.” We therefore must forgive others with just as much forgiveness as God has granted to us !

The Strengthening Purpose of Time

( Gen 41:41-43) “And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, See, I have set thee over all the land of Egypt... A nd he made him to ride in the second chariot which he had; and they cried before him, Bow the knee: and he made him ruler over all the land of Egypt.” When Joseph was introduced to us in chp.37, he was a young inexperienced 17 year old boy, and yet 13 years later God raised him up  to rule the nation of Egypt. So, what made him different ? The Answer : “ Time,” and his faith in God ! You see time is a wonderful teacher; 1) Time strengthens endurance . Endurance and faith can only be strengthened over time. Like exercise, we start out not able to do much but over time we find that we can do more. You see, God allows us to go through the ups and downs of life, to help us gain not only spiritual maturity, but also spiritual abilities. Spiritual endurance therefore enables us to handle life’s trials better. 2) Time strengthens patience . Although Joseph, ...

On Earth Peace Toward All Men

(Luke 2:14) “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace , good will toward men.” As we look at (v. 14) again we see that one of the things that the angels wanted the shepherds to know was that “peace” was now available on earth for any man who trusts to Jesus. The Peace of God is an interesting thing because it involves not only a peace that is given to every man at salvation but also a peace that no man can ever take away. Before Christ came there was no real or lasting peace with man on earth. For: 1) The Peace that came down from Heaven was Jesus . God came to this earth even after he witnessed our sin. It was no surprise to God what sis man was capable of, even so, He still sent Jesus to save us. (Rom. 5:8) “God commended his love toward us in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died or us.” The proof of His love was sending Jesus! 2) It’s now possible to have “Peace” with God through Jesus . Complete peace was never ...

Glory To Jesus In The Highest

(Luke 2:13-14) “ And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest , and on earth peace, good will toward men.”  Again, we read above about the great proclamation of Heaven’s Angels the night of Jesus’ birth, and how they began to sing “Glory to God in the highest.” So, what did the angels mean by this statement . 48 times in the Bible God uses the phrase, “The Most High,” to describe not just the dwelling place of God, but also the Glory that should be ascribed to Him and His Son Jesus 1) Jesus was the Glory that came down from the Highest Heaven . Jesus’s existence did not begin at birth, for the Bible tells us that he was, and is, and always will be the eternal Son of God , “the only begotten of the Father.”   For He is, (Rev. 1:8) “the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and ending,” (18) “he that liveth, and was dead...
