"And It Came To Pass"


 (Luke 2:1) “And it came to pass…” 396 times in scripture these exact words are used. The first is in (Genesis 4:8) as the line of Christ begins, and the last is in (Acts 28:17) with the Apostle Paul’s closing story concerning the Church. You see, the Bible promised man from the very beginning that God would send His Son into the world, born of a virgin in time, to save man from his sins, and the Bible has told the story very well. God kept his word when Jesus came, God kept his word when Jesus died and rose again for the dead, and God kept His Word when He sent His Holy Spirit to start His church upon the earth. All this “came to pass” as the scriptures foretold; but why is there no more “and it came to pass” after (Acts28:17)? The answer, because the end has not yet come to pass. The Apostle John was commanded to write (Rev. 1:19) “Write the things which thou hast seen, and the things which are, and the things which shall be hereafter;” The things that are “hereafter” have not yet come to pass, but thank God for Jesus today and his salvation, for he is still saving and changing the lives those that trust in him. For one day all this will come to pass too!

On Earth Peace Toward All Men

(Luke 2:14) “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace , good will toward men.” As we look at (v. 14) again we see that one of the things that the angels wanted the shepherds to know was that “peace” was now available on earth for any man who trusts to Jesus. The Peace of God is an interesting thing because it involves not only a peace that is given to every man at salvation but also a peace that no man can ever take away. Before Christ came there was no real or lasting peace with man on earth. For: 1) The Peace that came down from Heaven was Jesus . God came to this earth even after he witnessed our sin. It was no surprise to God what sis man was capable of, even so, He still sent Jesus to save us. Glory To Jesus In The Highest

(Luke 2:13-14) “ And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest , and on earth peace, good will toward men.”  Again, we read above about the great proclamation of Heaven’s Angels the night of Jesus’ birth, and how they began to sing “Glory to God in the highest.” So, what did the angels mean by this statement . 48 times in the Bible God uses the phrase, “The Most High,” to describe not just the dwelling place of God, but also the Glory that should be ascribed to Him and His Son Jesus 1) Jesus was the Glory that came down from the Highest Heaven .
